How do you gauge a person’s loyalty? For Blue (Nico Antonio), it is about a gigantic display of sacrifice, support, and love, sometimes to the point of blind devotion. That’s how he treated Marissa (Jodi Sta Maria) in the trending primetime series Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin. As he takes on the greatest act of allegiance, which is putting his own life on the line, let us revisit the touching moments when he stood by Marissa’s side despite the latter’s occasional dramas and arrogance.
Saved by Marissa from the hands of death, Blue is forever indebted to his boss. The seeds of unbreakable loyalty were sown when Marissa offered her soul to Adelina (Carla Martinez) and the organization just to spare Blue. He vowed his allegiance to Marissa since, ready to kill and die for his boss.
Blue became Marissa’s constant refuge during the early days of her pursuit for vengeance. He was the first one to know her plans, although he wasn’t given the right to protest and have a say on her decisions. He’s there to just listen and fix any trouble – a seemingly small yet pivotal role he passionately took on.
Besides the life debt, he loved her for real, albeit she never took his feelings seriously. We are forever amused with that scene wherein he cooked for his boss, shirtless and trying to seduce her. She liked the food but not his looks. Blue quickly put his shirt on because that’s the order. He took the seat in front of her and gave updates about his tasks. He listened as she relayed her schemes against Ellice (Iza Calzado), completely captivated despite the display of Marissa’s inner devil.
She makes him look stupid for the slightest mistake such as asking harmless questions. She can break things in front of him and bring him to hell. But none of these can taint Blue’s devotion to Marissa.
He’s genuinely concerned about her safety. Sheer devotion was displayed in that scene wherein Blue tried to warn Marissa of the risks encompassing her evil schemes. He expressed his worry but only to be ridiculed and reminded of his role as mere driver-assistant. Lucing (Maricel Soriano) entered the scene to call out Marissa’s arrogance. Despite the mockery and rejection, Blue never lacked patience for his boss, telling Lucing that her daughter has a good heart.
The devoted Blue is Marissa’s constant partner-in-crime. He’s the one to know every detail of her elaborate plans as he’s also expected to fix the troubles. When he found out that Marissa was pregnant with Gabriel (Sam Milby)’s baby, Blue volunteered to take responsibility for the child. Initially, he didn’t understand why Marissa targets Gabriel. He eventually gave his full support upon learning her ulterior motive.
Even when Marissa hired a new bodyguard, Blue did not think of leaving her and Nanay Lucing. He also took care of her in the hospital as she recovered from an explosion. Blue showed signs of jealousy and overprotectiveness as he warned Marissa about Avel (Joseph Marco). He also expressed worry when Marissa decided to go back to work after her recovery.
His loyalty to Marissa extends to the people she loves. The first time Blue displayed great sacrifice was when he got shot while saving Lucing from Caesar (Simon Ibarra)’s henchman.
Due to the danger lurking around, Marissa tasked Blue to be Nanay Lucing’s bodyguard. There was never a moment he left the mother and daughter. Blue also adds comic relief by engaging in a silent competition with Avel.
Blue proved his love and loyalty to Marissa until his final breath. Catching the sight of a sniper, he ran to Marissa and took the bullet for her, also saving Lucing. It was the completion of his vows – to kill and die for the woman he loves.
