When not busy exploring his craft, Zaijian Jaranilla hangs out in his gaming room to unwind and connect with fans through live streaming.
Riding the digital wave, and influenced by Eric Tai aka Eruption, the teen star tried live game streaming during the pandemic. But unlike other gamers, he’s more into exhibition than talks, “Hindi ako madaldal, eh. Skills talaga ‘yung pinapakita ko.”
The whole build is made up of typical gaming components. There’s really nothing fancy as Zaijian loves the gameplay more than just the trend of cool aesthetics. He also showed us the software he uses. Thanks to his gamer friends like Eruption and his supportive dad as well, Zaijian easily managed to learn the ins and outs of live streaming.
“Madali lang naman siya ma-gets. Akala mo lang sobrang hirap pero sobrang basic lang talaga siya,” he encouraged other gamers who want to venture into livestreaming. It only took him two days to learn the ropes and build the setup with his father’s help.
He shares the same love for gaming with his dad. Before the showbiz fame, they would play by renting personal computers in ordinary shops. They also put up their own computer shop business before and manning the store has been a good training ground for him. He also has relatable computer shop stories to share like the fun ‘trash talks’ with his opponents.
To aspiring live streamers, Zaijian’s key tip is to keep it consistent and be original in your content. This would come easy when you know and love what you are doing. “Hindi mo naman kailangan sumabay sa iba na maingay maglaro. Importante, dapat ‘yung connection mo mabilis.”
Also get yourself a thicker skin to survive the harsh bashing in social media. Or, Zaijian said you can be bold if you want, “Naku! Pinapatulan ko ‘yang mga ‘yan!” Kidding aside, he would rather ignore the trolls to save himself from stress. Learn from other gamers as well. Zaijian picks Rayver Cruz and Izzy Canillo as his ultimate gaming ‘lodi.’ Most importantly, stick to your goals and motivation and create a world outside your game.
The former child star has also grown into a fine young man with sharper acting skills. To prove that getting better does not stop, Zaijian continues to explore his artistry and his latest challenge is joining the top-notch ensemble cast of Almost Paradise.
In the episode to be aired this Sunday, May 9, Zaijian plays one of the bad guys. Besides the gangster-like persona, Zaijian had to adjust for the show’s medium. “English, eh! Napakahirap” he quipped.
Catch Almost Paradise this Sunday (May 9), 8:45 pm on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z Channel, and iWantTFC.
