Sam Milby’s growing repertoire as an actor through the years

Not one to rest on his laurels, Sam Milby keeps surprising us with his continuously evolving repertoire as an actor.

Though he started as a model, Sam's golden ticket to stardom was being a housemate in the first regular season of Pinoy Big Brother in 2005. He was the charming crooner of the famous blue and yellow house. After showcasing his talent in music, Sam ventured into acting. He appeared in
Kapamilya anthologies Maalaala Mo Kaya and Your Song Presents.

The 2006 teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man  witnessed him as a revelation, completing the powerful quartet in the series. Though a rookie then, he was able to etch an iconic character and had remarkable scenes that many teleserye enthusiasts can visually imagine to this day. Sam was paired with Anne Curtis and their strong chemistry would usher them to their follow-up projects, the series’ Book 2 Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik, and the fantaserye Dyosa where he played prince of the underworld.

As he slowly built his acting portfolio, Sam was paired with showbiz’s finest actresses including Angel Locsin in Only You, the Pinoy adaptation of a Korean drama of the same title. He played the arrogant businessman, TJ.

Sam was often cast as a wealthy character most likely because of his American accent. He portrayed one on his guesting in the iconic inspirational dramas May Bukas Pa and 100 Days to Heaven, and even in the rom-com afternoon series Precious Hearts Romances Presents “Impostor.”

In 2010, Sam was able to combine his passion for music and acting in the musical drama 1Dol opposite Sarah Geronimo. Also he delivered amusing comedy in Kahit Konting Pagtingin.

Considered a big milestone in his career was Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala with Drama Queen Judy Ann Santos and wherein he donned a dark character. His versatility was on full display in the teleserye as he went from knight-in-shining-armor to a dark character, and later on, gay in the said series.

The 2014 TV version of Mars Ravelo’s Dyesebel thrilled fans as it reunited Sam and Anne, and he played a merman who transitioned into one of the serye’s bad guys. He was also remarkable in his angel character in the family-oriented teleserye Nathaniel.

With improved skills in speaking Filipino, Sam slowly evolved into a household name in the field of heavy drama. We witnessed his stunning growth in the afternoon soap Doble Kara, where he escorted Julia Montes.

The 2018 drama Halik is considered a game-changer in Sam’s career as a dramatic actor. In the said series, which became a huge success, Sam portrayed the remorseless serial philanderer Ace Corpuz, the root of evil and trouble in the story.

As he continued to walk the shoes of a dramatic leading man, Sam took on acting sparring with some of the industry’s finest, namely Jodi Sta Maria, Iza Calzado, and Diamond Star Maricel Soriano, in the gigantic Kapamilya teleserye Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin.

This year, Sam's 15th in the industry, the model-turned-actor is about to transform anew into a multi-faceted persona via A Family Affair, a sexy-drama primetime series that also stars Gerald Anderson, Jameson Blake, Jake Ejercito, and Ivana Alawi.

Catch A Family Affair this June 27 on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
