For Kapamilya Chat’s first studio episode since the pandemic, we got Jameson Blake and Aya Fernandez to talk about the upcoming series “A Family Affair.”
Jameson and Aya previously starred Viral Scandal, although their characters had zero encounters. Now in “A Family Affair,” the two are sharing scenes, and adding major upgrades in their acting credibility.
Jameson will be playing Drew, one-fourth of the worshiped Estrella brothers. The trailer, which garnered 2 million views in 24 hours, offered a glimpse of his edgy role as the Estrella family’s black sheep. Meanwhile, Aya will be donning a character to add more drama in the life of Ivana Alawi’s Cherry Red.
From there, Jameson and Aya talked about what it’s like working with their co-stars Ivana, Gerald Anderson, Sam Milby and Jake Ejercito.
They said Gerald is an expert at his craft, and that’s truly inspiring. Aya called him the co-captain of the ship, always trying to offer what he can to the series and his co-stars. Jameson looks up to him for his generosity and being a real gentleman. Aya agreed, saying Gerald is a role model, “He’s someone na gusto mong maging in the future. ‘Yung ethics, professionalism, ang galing!”
Aya, who played Sam’s ex-girlfriend in “Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin,” hinted about their level-up interactions in the new project. Behind the scenes, Sam is their clown and bully, the one who organized a pre-lock-in hike for the cast. For Jameson, it’s an honor to be working with Sam, whom people used to compare him with as to manner of speaking.
The third among the Estrella brood is Jake, whom Aya considers her batchmate in the industry. Since they’re both newbies, they help each other learn the ropes. “Parehas kaming hindi pa nakaka-ten thousand hours sa industriya… Napaka-generous niya sa pagbahagi ng tips. Sobrang solid. Sobrang tropa ni Jake,” she said.
Jameson got close with Jake since they’re roommates. They were both required to learn motorcycle riding, which is one of the scenes viewers must watch for.
We move on to the focal point of the story, Ivana as Cherry Red. Just as Ivana captures millions of hearts on social media, she also charmed her co-stars, so much that they only have good things to say about her. “I love Ivana so much,” gushed Aya. They found instant connection as the first two girls in the bubble. Aya is also amazed how Ivana was able to manage her skincare line while locked-in.
At first, Jameson felt a little awkward. But soon he saw Ivana as approachable and kind, “She’s really nice. Kahit pagod siya, hindi niya ipapakita na pagod siya.” He also appreciates how comfortable Ivana is around him. She even calls him ‘baby boy’ because he’s the youngest of the Estrella siblings.
In keeping with the teleserye’s theme, the guests shared their thoughts on romantic competitions among siblings. Aya thinks the big age gap between her and her sisters will save them from liking the same guy. But, should it happen, she’s ready to give way. Same goes for Jameson, who said, “Family first,” although it’d be a real struggle especially when he has a deep connection with the girl.
