Ivana Alawi and her journey to becoming a Kapamilya leading lady

Ivana Alawi is more than ready for her next bold move – to become an effective leading lady on TV. As we anticipate her plum performance in the upcoming series “A Family Affair,” her first-ever lead role, let us look back at some of her past acting stints as a Kapamilya in this edition of PUSH Evolution.

The first time she sprinkled sultriness on the small screen was in 2016 via afternoon drama Precious Hearts Romances Presents Araw-Gabi. She played Rina, the ‘kontrabida’ officemate of Barbie Imperial's character.

It was followed by an acting gig in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Since there are thousands of viewers following the journey of Coco Martin’s Cardo Dalisay, the series’ main hero, this is where Ivana gained more attention. Spectators got curious about the sizzling hot girlfriend of villain Don Emilio or Don Gustavo portrayed by acting legend Eddie Garcia.

The boost in popularity led to her next project, a lawyer role, one of the main characters in “Sino Ang May Sala: Mea Culpa.” Her portrayal of a lawyer and wife of a syndicate leader brought her the Best New Female Personality recognition at the PMPC Star Awards for Television.

All the while trying to create her own identity on TV, Ivana also built her social media presence and soon she needed no introduction. She has been one of the most followed local celebrities since 2019. And in 2020, she finally became a bonafide Kapamilya star. Although her lined-up projects had to take a backseat due to the pandemic, so she focused more on vlogging, she is now primed to take the road to becoming a bankable leading lady, with “A Family Affair” as the ticket.

In the upcoming teleserye, she plays Cherry Red, the woman whose life is entwined with those of the Estrella brothers played by Gerald Anderson, Sam Milby, Jake Ejercito, and Jameson Blake. And based on the trailer, the Ivana we’re about to see is brighter and bolder than ever.

Catch A Family Affair”, soon, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
