Gerald Anderson's TV journey that shaped him into a versatile actor

From playing cute roles typical of a boy-next-door charmer, Gerald Anderson slowly moved into the more serious and dramatic spectrum of acting. Witness his awe-inspiring TV journey here:

The first teen season of Pinoy Big Brother changed the life of the ‘Amboy Hottie’ from General Santos City. His unexpected chemistry with housemate Kim Chiu allowed them to form what would become one of the most popular love teams of their generation.

Gerald joined Kim in several Kapamilya shows including Your Son Presents “Alive” and the sitcom Aalog-Alog. Soon, they’d headline their own series, Sana Maulit Muli. He wore the rom-com cape first via My Girl, a Pinoy adaptation of the Korean drama of the same title.

The Kapamilya heartthrob saw his career milestone by winning Best Drama Actor at the NSUU TV Awards for his portrayal of Lt. David “JR” Garcia in Tayong DalawaHe next joined the formidable cast of huge Kapamilya teleserye Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo.

Gerald’s loveteam era eventually came to an end. But after graduating from it, he also got primed for more complex, multi-faceted roles. He scored nods of approval when he played a character with special needs suffering from Angelman Syndrome in Budoy. The acting assignments got loftier since. He was next cast in the action-drama series Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin as a man seeking justice for himself.

His acting stints in the special Christmas-serye Give Love on Christmas Presents: The Gift of Life and inspirational drama Nathaniel also delighted viewers.

Gerald lent his acting prowess to Kapamilya weekened program Wansapanataym as Buhawi Jack. He also added the fantaserye Mars Ravelo: Dyesebel in his acting portfolio.

He also earned praises for his guestings in the long-running drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya. His first MMK stint required delicate but powerful and honest portrayal of an ill-stricken teacher in the episode titled “Class Picture.” Years after the KimErald on-screen breakup, Gerald worked with former loveteam partner Kim Chiu in the MMK episode aptly titled “Reunited.”

It was then followed by their teleserye reunion via daytime soap Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin

As a seasoned actor, Gerald proved he can lead the pack of Kapamilya gentlemen in the military drama A Soldier’s Heart, where he portrayed the main antagonist Alex Marasigan. Along with his buddies, Gerald took a short course under the Philippine Army to immerse into his character.

Just last year, Gerald saw another milestone in his career by carrying the torch alongside JM De Guzman and Yam Concepcion for the sexy-drama series Init Sa Magdamag, which became a huge success.

Picking up from the sexy-drama theme of his last teleserye, Gerald takes on another powerful and daring role in A Family Affair, which he topbills alongside Sam Milby, Jake Ejercito, Jameson Blake, and Ivana Alawi.
