Aya Fernandez’s Becca Cabrera in “A Family Affair” is perceived by viewers as a ‘kontrabida’ with a heart, exactly how she imagined the character. In this episode of Kapamilya Chat, Aya reflects on her on-screen alter-ego and shares what to look forward to in the series’ new season.
Aya is content how audiences feel a mix of ‘gigil’ and empathy toward Becca. That only means “goal achieved” for her. She wanted people to understand that Becca only comes off as a bad girl due to unhealed wounds, “Sobrang natutuwa ako sa viewers kasi kahit kontrabida si Becca, na-achieve ‘yung gusto kong ma-achieve. Meron akong nakikitang tweets na kinakampihan n’yo siya dahil alam n’yo ‘yung pinagdaanan niya, na meron naman siyang karapatan magtaray kasi ito ‘yung pinagdaanan niya.”
She said Becca is a reminder not to judge others as we all are fighting our inner battles. Although, Aya believes our traumatic experiences are neither free pass to behave wrongly.
She said fans must watch for Becca’s character transition, how she’d regain the self-worth she lost by loving the wrong man. Also, Ivana Alawi’s transformation from Cherry Red to Cherry Black will keep us glued to our seats.
Aya went on to share their off-cam bonding moments, which involved food, a lot of it. She revealed cast members, specifically the lead stars Ivana, Gerald Anderson, Sam Milby, Jake Ejercito, and Jameson Blake would take turns to order food for the whole team. And, as compared to their earlier days in the bubble, they now share more inside jokes that keep their camaraderie strong.
