From amusing us with her bubbly personality and crazy antics that we get to see through her vlogs, social media superstar Ivana Alawi went on to impress us with her dramatic prowess as she takes on the role of Cherry Red, the central figure in the well-loved primetime series A Family Affair.
And in this Kapamilya Update feature, let’s revisit some of the remarkable scenes that she did that truly showcased her promising acting skills.
The earlier episodes were relatively light and lively as she was introduced as the hardworking, doting, and cheerful steward of the hacienda. But things started to get intense, and so was her acting, when she found the lifeless body of her father Panyong (Lito Pimentel). Just like any person who lost a loved one, we could really feel her agony as she cried and repeatedly screamed “tatay”. This particular scene trended online and earned praises from netizens who were moved by her superb acting.
We also felt her character’s pain during that bath scene wherein, she wept over her breakup with Dave (Sam Milby), who suddenly ended things between them with after just a few days of being in a relationship.
Ivana was able to further showcase her intensity as an actress during Cherry Red’s confrontation scene with Dave, after he announced that he’s bequeathing to her the hacienda that he inherited from their late dad Freddie (Edu Manzano). We were indeed astounded with how he’s able to keep pace with the performance of Sam – who’s already a seasoned actor – much more when she gave him a strong slap on the face.
She was able to once again show off her dramatic chops in that scene wherein her character sobbed so hard after she dreamt of her dead father. Thankfully, Dave was there to comfort and accompany her.
And lastly, many of us have probably found ourselves watching with bated breaths as Dave confessed to Cherry the truth behind the death of her beloved father. We were truly stirred by her exceptional and vehement performance in this scene that made it extra gripping and compelling – only to find out that it’s just a nightmare of Dave. The Kapamilya actress once again garnered praises from the audiences, who assumed that Dave already did it.
