Charlie Dizon lauds Nash Aguas as she reacts to their trending scenes in A Soldier’s Heart

Newcomer Charlie Dizon proves her talent is not something viewers can simply turn a blind eye to. She deserves a spot among the powerful cast of Kapamilya series A Soldier’s Heart, evident in her credible portrayal as Isabel Gezali, the Moro and politician’s daughter who adds romantic charm (and inevitable heartaches) in the life of Pvt. Michael Mendoza played by Nash Aguas.

In this video, Charlie reacts to her trending scenes with Nash, quite a refresher on how their tale of forbidden love unravelled. The rising star giggles over her first appearance on the show – Isabel and Michael crossing paths at a checkpoint “Bago i-shoot to, bagong gising ako kaya may linya ‘yung mukha ko, halatang nakatulog,” she recalls.

With zero experience in the love team game, Charlie doubted her abilities to create a strong dose of kilig with Nash. She was therefore surprised to know that their team-up, albeit experimental, elicits positive feedback from the viewers. Charlie now understands what makes them effective –off-cam camaraderie, for one.

She also gives credit to her leading man’s acting prowess sharpened through the years. She says Nash helps her keep up with the demands of heavy scenes, tagging him as very giving. “Sobrang in character siya, so mahihiya  ka kapag hindi mo nabigay ‘yung needs sa mga eksena,” adds the newbie. Charlie and Nash work as one. They would take the initiative to discuss the script and delve into each other’s emotions, besides taking instructions from their directors.

Their chemistry transcends beyond the cameras inserting adlibs comes so easy. Charlie reveals that Nash and their co-actors exchanged unscripted teases in the scene wherein Isabel and Michael made their relationship official. It helps that her partner’s natural comedic chops (which she believes he got from Goin’ Bulilit always come in handy.  “Sa mga eksenang nakakatawa, nagjo-joke na rin talaga siya para pagdating sa eksena, kumportable na din ‘yung batuhan namin ng linya kaya may mga eksena talaga na totoo ‘yung tawa ko,” she adds. On her performance in that very light moment, Charlie exclaims, “My gosh! Ang arte-arte! Nakakahiya!”

The next clip shows Isabel getting jealous over something petty. In real life, though Charlie is always rational. She isn’t the type who easily gets jealous. But if she does, she would probably act as mad as Isabel.

Charlie couldn’t help but empathize with Isabel and Michael’s characters as they go through the pathos of forbidden love. She thinks the ala Romeo and Juliet tale turns out more gripping, and realistically painful, because of Nash’s supreme dramatic skills. “Magaling si Nash talaga, eh,” she reiterates while watching the scene wherein Michael tried to talk to Isabel’s father.

Charlie lauds Nash once again in the next clip wherein Isabel had to let go of Michael to save him from further torture under her father’s hands. “Nabasa ko pa lang ‘yung script nito, naiiyak na ako kasi kawawa ‘yung character ni Michael tapos ang galing pa ng ginawa ni Nash,” she expresses. In doing intense dramatic moments that require so much feels, Charlie often takes fervent ‘hugot’ from her onscreen partner.

Charlie believes that in a world full of chaos and war, true love still reigns supreme, saying “Walang natatalo sa pagmamahal.” Aside from that, her biggest takeaway from the series would have to be, “Laging ipaglaban kung ano ang tama at nasa katotohanan at i-weigh kung anong cause and effect ng actions mo.”
