One of the Filipino core values deeply exercised during the Christmas season is gratitude. Because as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we are also compelled to sit with our thoughts and see the blessings that have helped us get through the year.
Gratitude shone in the 2022 ABS-CBN Christmas ID “Tayo Ang Ligaya Ng Isa’t Isa,” which is soaked in appreciation for the everyday Filipino heroes that left lasting impact on the lives of Kapamilyas. Best of all, it worshipped God, the ultimate reason to give thanks.
In keeping with the music video’s theme, the cast of the recently concluded Kapamilya series “2 Good 2 Be True” opened their hearts to express thankfulness.
Romnick Sarmenta’s thankful heart beats for his mother, who provided him “pagtitiyaga, pag-aalaga, at pag-intindi.” The 50-year old actor will never be too old to be a mama’s boy, “Sa tanda kong ito pero nandiyan pa rin ermat ko nakasuporta sa akin.”
Gelli de Belen likewise paid tribute to her parents, “Kung ano ako ngayon ay dahil sa kanila because they brought me up. Tinuruan nila ako to be a better version of me.”
For rookie actress Bianca de Vera, she wouldn’t be where she is without her parents’ unconditional love and support, so they deserve to be honored, “Mommy, daddy, if you’re watching, thank you very much. Bago pa ako umiyak, I love you.”
Growing up in the tight-knit Muhlach clan, Alyssa Muhlach is thankful for the love they nurtured her with. She knows they got her back no matter what happens. “Kahit anong mangyari sa buhay ko, whether masaya ako or malungkot ako, they’re always there for me. And I am very grateful for them because they never fail to make me feel loved and valued even when sometimes I feel like I’m not deserving.”
For a doting father like Cris Villanueva, nothing tops the joy of seeing his children turn into good individuals. “Lahat ng anak ko mababait. Lahat sila very understanding and I think matatalino. That’s why I’m very, very grateful.”
Pamu Pamorada will soon gain a new family, which makes her want to thank her fiancé, “Mag-iiba na ‘yung dynamics ng life and magkaroon na ako ng asawa life.”
God, the Source of all good things, was given praise by Mary Joy Apostol. She honors Him and offers all things to Him, “Walang words a pwedeng makapantay, Siya lang talaga.”
Matt Evans is thankful for a lot of things – family, faith, and the people he crosses paths with every day. Gillian Vicencio’s heart swells with gratitude for all the blessings, big and small, especially her family’s health.
Blessing comes in the form of work, too. Via Antonio is grateful to have found her purpose in acting, and the bonus part is it helps her pay the bills and feed the family. “I get to enjoy the company of each other. I get to act. Ito ‘yung talagang gusto ko and I am grateful for the opportunity to do it.” With this, she is utterly grateful to God for giving her the talent to act.
The past two years have been terrible for Kapamilyas due to back-to-back crises, the pandemic and the ABS-CBN shutdown. Nonetheless, Irma Adlawan is thankful the Kapamilyas were able to rise from uncertainties. “I know a lot of people are struggling and we are blessed that we continue on and that ABS-CBN continues to do good things. We look forward to more better things to come… We are here. We will continue.”
As a homegrown Kapamilya talent, Yves Flores thought of his strong relationship with ABS-CBN. Simply having work despite the pandemic and franchise denial fills his heart with gratitude and the promise to remain a loyal Kapamilya. “Malaki ang pasasalamat ko sa ABS-CBN at mahal na mahal ko ‘yung mga tao. Lagi kong sinasabi, dito lang ako kasi dito ‘yung tahanan ko. Hangga’t may isang tao o isang trabahador na natitira sa ABS-CBN, nasisigurado ko na hindi ako aalis dito dahil sila ‘yung tumulong sa akin. Mahal na mahal nila ako at mahal ko din sila,” he mused.
