Did you know that he was initially a Norwegian citizen and then only became a naturalized Filipino because his mother is a Filipina? In fact, he can still speak Norwegian fluently. “Hello, everybody! I’m Rafael Rosell. I’m an actor in the Philippines. I have been in the showbiz industry for quite some time,” he introduced himself.
As a dual citizen, he appeared in August 17’s lighthearted and romantic episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya opposite Yen Santos who previously starred in Halik. This Entertainment.ABS-CBN.com exclusive is a must see because Rafael is finally answering all your biggest questions about him.
His first ever acting role was Oliver from the iconic teen drama Tabing Ilog back in 2000. It was this project that opened the doors for him to more opportunities in the entertainment industry. By 2006, he became part a member of the all-male group Cover Boys along with Zanjoe Marudo and Los Bastardo’s Jake Cuenca. Thanks to his experiences through the years, he has learned to adapt depending on what the role requires. Usually, television dramas use more theatrical movements. On the other hand, actions have to be more subtle in movies. “Hindi masyadong magulo ‘yung ulo kasi nakakahilo ‘yan sa big screen,” he explained.
Now, he maintains his physique by living a healthy lifestyle. When it comes to food, he does not believe in diets. Instead, he switched into plant-based meals. “Everything na kinakain natin pwedeng gawin vegetarian or vegan,” he shared. As for his workout, he used to do capoeira but has since opted for soul surfing which focus on riding the waves rather than competition. “It’s just for pure meditation,” he added.
