Just like his character Andres Delgado in the 2011 teleserye 100 Days To Heaven, which had a rerun in the Primetime Bida block as part of the temporary programming changes of ABS-CBN due to the COVID-19 pandemic, veteran character actor Joel Torre is also an admirable and hardworking patriarch in real life.
Not much have been known nor written yet about his beautiful family, but as we did a little stalking in his and his daughters’ Instagram accounts and a deep diving on the internet, we’re able to learn a lot about them.
In spite of his hectic schedule, as we saw him appear in a slew of TV series and movies in the recent years, it’s truly delighting to see how Joel is able maintain his close ties with his wife of more than three decades Christy Azcona and with their two gorgeous and talented grown-up daughters Maria Ariela (or “Aila”) and Maria Raphaela (or “Marela”).
Each of them may be busy with their respective gigs and other activities, but the Torre family makes sure to still find time to bond by dining, celebrating various occasions, and going on trips here and abroad together.
While their matriarch seems to not have any social media account, their daughters are apparently active at least on IG, thus making it easy for us to know what both of them are up to. The eldest Aila is an athlete and a visual artist, who has competed in several wakeboarding events, is a basketball enthusiast, and has been delighting her followers with her amazing artworks. Marela, on the other hand, is into boxing and filmmaking, and has already appeared on-screen, such as in the indie flicks “Kid Alpha One” (2019) and “We Will Not Die Tonight” (2018), and in the fantasy-action series La Luna Sangre as one of the valiant Moonchasers.
Aside from their close ties, what makes their family extra amazing is with how they’re able to expand their family food business – a chain of restaurants serving traditional dishes from their hometown Bacolod – hand-in-hand in the past 17 years.
